A Reminder From The Late Great USMC Col Jeff Cooper

Col Cooper said that Elden Carl (The Great) once explained the proper procedure when attacked by a savage dog is to ram your pistol right down his throat.

You haven't got a pistol?

Well, shucks! I guess you will just have to call 911.

Soap Box Ravings says the story is as true today as it was when it was first told. If your not prepared, you will have to call 911. Remember, the police are only minutes away.

While you are digesting that thought have you ever wondered how many officers or deputies work your area or zone. How many work the night shift versus the day shift? How many are out sick? How many are empty positions because of budget constraints. How well trained are they and how much experience do they have average per officer.

Is the departments experience well rounded or do you have one day working 30 year Chief of Police and a whole department of officers with less than five years experience. Is the agency state certified? How effective is their FTO program. How well do their radios work? Do they have the equipment to be effective in doing their job?

That's OK, you call 911 and then let your previously prepared friends know how it worked out for you.
